Important Notice concerning Training Courses

The Operating Engineers College provides safety training courses throughout the year for Local 904 Union Members in good standing.

Members who book their own training through other training providers will be required to pay for that training themselves. 

Local 904 will no longer pay for training unless it is provided and/or approved by the Operating Engineers College and Local 904.

Confined Space Entry Course

If there is enough interest, the OEC will be arranging Confined Space Entry Course for those Union Members who require a Certificate for work.

If you are a Union Member and you require a Confined Space Entry Certificate for work,  please call the College for more information.

 

Small Vessel Operator Proficiency (SVOP) Course

Please call the college to register, limited seats available.

Individuals who work on small work boats are required to hold a Small Vessel Operator Proficiency (SVOP) certificate.  If you are interested in completing this course please call the Operating Engineers College for details 229-6464 or 1-888-229-6469. 

All Participants will be required to pay for the course tuition up front.  This course will be provided through the Marine Institute.  Therefore everyone must be pre-registered and pre-paid before attending.

Union Members in good standing with Local 904  , who provide the union office with proof that they have successfully completed the course, will be reimbursed for the cost of tutition only.

 

Shop Steward and Foremen/women Training Courses

The Operating Engineers College is offering a 1-day Shop Steward course and a 1-day Foremen/women.  If you are interested in participating in this training, please call the college @ 709-229-6464. 



Attention JP Crane Operators - Tower Crane Training

Are you a Journey Person Mobile Crane Operator?  Would you be interested in completing a Tower Crane course at the Operating Engineers College? For more information call the OE College  (709)229-6464.

 

Zoom Boom Assessment

The Operating Engineers College offers a Zoom Boom Assessment. This assessment is for operators who have no formal certification but have 1 or more years of operating experience and knowledge of the Zoom Boom load charts.
A letter from an employer will be required to verify your Zoom Boom experience
. (Letter must be on an official company letterhead)

This is not a course for individuals with no previous experience in the operation of Zoom Booms.

The assessment will take 2 days to complete:
Day 1: Load chart assessment. Individuals who do not pass the load chart assessment will not be permitted to complete the practical assessment.
Day 2: Practical assessment.
